Orthodox Typeface

| The source of the typeface at the Peter and Paul Fortress in St. Petersburg, Russia, which contains the tombs of the tsars of the Romanov family. I believe this sign says "Peter the Great." |
Design Specs: This font was designed from text appearing on a Russian monument. Only twelve characters are shown in the photos so the remainder of the 33-letter Russian (Cyrillic) alphabet was extrapolated from those by preserving the design features and styles of the characters.
Fourteen of the 26 Roman alphabet characters were already represented by identical-looking Cyrillic characters, so the remaining letters were designed to complete the Roman set. Therefore, this font contains both the Roman and Cyrillic alphabets. Cyrillic language system software must be installed in order to use the Cyrillic set or only the Roman set will be available. The font is encoded in Macintosh Standard Cyrillic.
Results: Orthodox is suitable for short display type in Russian or in English with an old Russian feel. It does not contain punctuation, but this will be addressed in a future revision. It also has only capital letters. This font was named "Orthodox" because it is reminiscent of the art and lettering in old Russian Orthodox churches.
